Happy Sunday
I hope it’s being spent either in the sun or in your sheets.
xo
I tend to head to the mall on days where I spent the better half being annoyed or saddened. Yesterday was one of those days. Don’t get me wrong – most of my spare time is spent online hitting “add to cart” but sometimes you need to be engulfed by that ever present scent of a mall. A mixture of cosmetics, faux food, and the sweat of mall rats. I’m aware that there are sights as well but I reserve my vision only for things that matter. Aritzia, Sephora, you know…
Anyways, I needed a mood pick me up and nothing solves a predicament better than shopping. Duh. I hit Aritzia first and I don’t want to spoil my haul post so I’ll leave you guessing for now…
I pranced into Sephora with only one thing on my list. HAHAHAHAHA. Not. Really though, I’m trying to stray from gluttony at the moment so I picked up what I wanted along with one other product I simply couldn’t live life without. I spotlighted Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Matte Lip Color on Friday’s Favorites. For good reason. I had tried it on a few weeks ago (I have Tawny Pink and it’s my go to shade) when deciding between both it and YSL’s Extreme Coral. YSL won because I love the texture and feel (plus I was feeling summery and wanted something bright and glossy). My abandoned lipstick has been following my thoughts like a lost puppy so I had to go in and make the purchase. I’m so pleased.
The texture honestly lives up to it’s monniker – creamy and smooth. Plus it lasts all day, is highly pigmented and doesn’t dry out your lips like many mattes do. I am a all matte all day kind of girl and I know how disheartening it is to purchase a matte you love yet have it dry out your lips. Kind of like crushing on someone and then finding out they like to pick their nose when no one’s looking. That exact feeling. This lipstick is your God send.

I was also in need of a new under eye concealer. Not like I don’t have any – my Marc Jacobs pot ReMarcAble Full Cover Concealer is amazing, I just wanted something a little different when it comes to application. A pot concealer takes time and great attention to detail when applying and it’s hard when you’re half awake in the mornings. The claws I’ve been sporting as of late don’t help either. So – I wanted a stick I could just slick on and blend in. This is the one I chose:
I know that NARS’ Radiant Creamy Concealer has a cult following but because I already have a couple liquid concealers I felt those were sufficient. For now. I love this NARS Concealer. The stick application is so easy, plus the coverage is full and blends well. I tried on Custard and ended up with it because I wanted something light with a yellow undertone (my skin is a golden complextion – or so I like to think) and this is perfect for creating a luminizing effect under the eye. It boasts: no creasing, long wear and an ultra light opaque texture. I’ll be the judge of that, although I’m predicting nothing but a rave review. I’ll make sure to publish a scrutinizing post on it sooner than later…

On my way out I caught whiff of Lush and was reminded that I wanted to grab the Ocean Salt Scrub that both my sisters have and love.
How can I rave about this stuff without sounding like I’m paid to do it? I can’t. It’s so good. Limes steeped in Vodka, grapefruit and salt with avocado butter, coconut oil and and seaweed. I can feel all that sh*t. The scrub is meant for face and body (and because I’m stingy I’ll only be using it for my face). Its purpose is to get rid of dead skin and leaving everything soft and smooth. I used a smidge and was left with soft, smooth skin. Someone pay me for this sh*t. I’m not kidding you. If you’re not ready to splurge on GlamGlow or a high priced scrub then ensure you opt for this instead. It’s still pricey ($21 for 120g/$35 for 250g) but a fraction of a higher priced scrub. I went with the 250g because I know I’ll make good use of it, and the extra amount was worth it for me. I’m annoyed I went without it for this long…

Let me know if you purchase.

I’ve started my Fall shopping (I was scratching and itching so hard I was starting to resemble a meth addict). I have so many beauty faves and fav purchases to share but I’ve managed to narrow them down…
FAVORITE PURCHASE
My Aritzia…psych. Although I’ve secured some key new items for Fall I decided to do them justice with a separate post. These Steve Madden Stecy stilettos in leopard print are the perfect addition to my ankle strap collection. I love a little pop of print, especially on the feet. My all black ensembles are holding a meet and greet with them as I type.
FAVORITE BEAUTY PRODUCT
Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Matte Lip Colors are honestly my favorite mattes right now. They’re intense and long lasting, plus they don’t dry out your lips. Huge. True Pink is my go to shade, especially when I want something a little more neutral. I recently tried on Valencia Orange and holy sh*t – I haven’t come across anything even close to this shade yet. It’s a burnt orange base but you’ll have to check it out to see what I mean.
FAVORITE PHOTO
Duh. Was there any other option? Courtesy of Kim Gordon and her Wildfox inspo blog. I have a feeling I’ll be living in this come Winter. Floral head arrangement and all. One look and I’m on a hot tea, rose scented bath, tiny snowflake vibe…
FAVORITE WISH LIST ITEM
Oh Saint Laurent. I believe this might be the second time this sneaky little bag is making the list. Clearly it’s haunting me. Clearly I’m not comfortable being haunted. Clearly I know what has to be done…
FAVORITE TREAT
I’ve been eating completely clean for almost 2 weeks now (I go HAM once in a while to lean out) but still manage to sneak in a treat every Saturday. No one likes dealing with be on a regular basis – hangry? Forget it. Menchies is my weakness. Although I’d rather indulge in Yogurtland or Qoola because I like it more tart than sweet, the distance to craving ratio is much more favorable. Fro yo is my go to cheat day treat. Not enough sugar to give shock my body but enough to not make me want to say f*ck it I’d rather be fat.
FAVORITE LOOK
This one here. My heart is torn when it comes to her and then she goes and throws on something like this. Swooning. Effortless, chic, sexy and it hasn’t been done. Amazing combination. The bed head, the lace ups, the B&W touch? Flawless.
I didn’t want to do a Fall post in fear that I wouldn’t be able to control the urge to throw on my over the knee boots in 83 degree weather but alas, I couldn’t help myself. Urges are to be fulfilled anyway.
So – instead of dictating exactly what you should place in your Fall wardrobe come September, I’ve instead resolved to ease you into it by pronouncing 5 items you need to (NEED to) have. After all, the newsstands have set forth their Fall issues, stores have delegated their Summer wear to the *shudder* back, and fashionistas have set up their countdowns.
These select items should makeup the base of your wardrobe and because they’re common Fal/Autumn staples they in high demand. Make sure you pick them up before you’re forced to dig around for them out of a Size 5 & 11 only bin.
You are straight up lying if you claim to not need boots until Winter. You’re not Santa Clause. Suit up early.
Donald J Pilner Danti Boot/$350/Nordstrom.com
The right amount of bad ass and feminine. Skinny jeans and oversized sweaters, airy layered dresses and grandpa cardigans are perfect pairings.
Valentino Rockstud Rain Boot/$450/Nordstrom.com
Hunters are by far acceptable means for foot protection during downpours, but why not take it up a notch? I like these because you won’t look like crossdressing lumberjack on your way into work or dinner. So verstatile.
Loeffler Randall Ella Stacked Hell Bootie/$395/loefflerrandall.com
A short bootie is classic for skinny pants, stockings, and dresses. Insanely versatile and I like that you get some height by still keeping it casual.
Alexander Wang Sigrid Tall Boots/$1150/shopbop.com
If you plan to invest in a long lasting staple piece this Fall, ensure it’s a tall boot. They’ve been going strong for years now and I can’t see the trend fading anytime soon. They’re sexy, easy to wear, timeless, and still protect you from the elements. Whether it’s a tall riding boot, an over the knee stacked heel, or thigh high stiletto boots – make the purchase.
Coats are essential for the colder months. Duh. Actually, not duh, because sometimes I layer like a homeless person and end up running out of body. Besides that, they’re perfect toppers and can really act as a legitimate accessory to an otherwise simple outfit.
Topshop Faux Leopard print coat/$178/topshop.com
Animal print is still pretty active this season – in small, stylish doses of course. I have a sleek little number from Zara, like the one below. Pair it with leather pants and some red booties and you’re a freaking runway model. I like to think so.
Sunday Best Ovid Vest/$120/artizia.com
Oh yasss. My love for layering has climaxed. (Sorry for the visuals). I just purchased this oversized hooded faux vest. I have a couple others that I worked into pretty much every single outfit last year so I am definitely stocking up on my choices this time around. I love the hood and the oversized style of this one. I’m practically drooling right now. If it was real I’d be crying and punching myself in the face for the mere thought of wanting it.
http://aritzia.com/en/ovid-vest/52672.html?dwvar_52672_color=5586#cgid=new-jackets&start=2
Zara Wool Coat/$129/zara.com
I like the relaxed style of this one. Eveyone should own at least 1 structured coat but this piece is great when you want to be a little more low key and less buttoned up.
http://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/coats/wool-coat-c269183p2038026.html
Burberry Oversize Pea Coat/$1250/burberry.com
Again, if you’re looking to invest your funds, Burberry is prime for coats with longevity and timeless style. Instead of going for the traditional check trappings, opt for a more muted shade that’ll last you the next 5-10 years. The collar on this one is leather underneath. Swoon.
The thought of leather right now, as I sit underneath my ceiling fan with a pitcher of ice water, with a sheen of sweat coating my body – makes me want to strangle myself. The thought of leather come Fall? Makes me want to sell my soul.
Madewell Leather Tour Vest/$395/madewell.com
Oh yes this is the one. If doling out for a leather jacket seems too daunting for you or if you’re rather ease into the trend (where have you been for the last couple years??) then a vest is the perfect choice. It’s easy to style, easy to wear with pretty much everything, are so flattering on just about any silhouette. I am definitely making the purchase.
Anine Bing Stretch Leather Biker Pants/$799/shopbop.com
Another splurge idea – Anine Bing. She’s like the Jennifer Lopez of Leather. Her pieces will pretty much last a lifetime. There’s tons of more affordable versions as well…

Astr Faux Leather Pleat Front Skirt/$60/nordstrom.com
Astr clothing is one of my favorite Nordstrom exclusives. Their pieces are on par with Topshop if you’re trying to get an idea…oh, and they’re affordable. Like insanely affordable. So you can buy 4 or 5 skirts at once, not 1 a month. I love this burnt orange-y camel shade for Fall. The pleats are a must too, very schoolgirl but still wearable if you’ve been out of school for 10 plus years…

Muubaa Saon Midi Skirt/$325/revolveclothing.com
The midi skirt is huge this upcoming season. I’m a mini maven so I find this style a little harder for me to get into, as it’s a bit more buttoned up and rigid in comparison, but a zippered style like this one is the perfect transition piece. Subtle yet sexy. I can dig it.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Faux leather leggings/$100/Nordstrom.com
These are the epitome of essential. You have so many styles and designers to choose from, there is no way you should be without a pair of faux leather leggings this Fall. Forget Fall, I’ve been wearing them all Summer. What’s a little sweat droplet?
Yeah, this is still happening. Much to my wardrobe pleasure. I can live in these all season. Embellished, graphic, printed, whatever. Done deal.
Can we say this is what started it all? The iconic Kenzo prints are imitated everywhere/$317/matchesfashion.com

Madewell Jardin sweatshirt/$70/madewell.com
French is the new English, according to statement sweatshirts. I say Espanol would look cuter but that’s just me…
MOTHER The Square Sweatshirt/$145/shopbop.com
I like the graphic sweatshirts better than anything. Cheeky.
http://www.shopbop.com/square-sweatshirt-mother/vp/v=1/1515596386.htm?fm=search-shopbysize
Benedita Crystal Sweatshirt/$210/revolveclothing.com
Embellished collars are great for classing up a cas outfit. I find that this makes a bigger statement than the typical Vegas style mini for nights out. Um, and those matching shorts? Dying.

Embellished shorts:

Sorry I’m Bad sweatshirt/$40/zara.com
I’d wear something like this with leather leggings or skinnes. With heels. Always with heels. Otherwise you look like a hipster teen who didn’t think twice thought about their outfit 13 times before leaving the house.
http://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/t-shirts/trf/sweatshirt-with-text-design-c498036p2182529.html
Beaded sweatshirt/$60/zara.com
This is so 80’s. I have to have it. I should probably dig thorough boxes of my Mom’s old sweatshirts first though. Save me $60…
http://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/t-shirts/trf/beaded-sweatshirt-c498036p2032593.html
Wildfox Couture x Revolve Letterman V Neck Sweater/$110/revolveclothing.com
How can I leave out my absolutely favorite brand for cheeky sweatshirts? (Baggy Beach Jumpers to be exact) These are by far the softest, most vintage feeling materials I have ever worn. A must.
A tote-able, daytime bag is an absolute must for Fall. Sure a clutch will do on dinner outings or nights out, but a larger more structured, easy to carry day bag is necessary for pretty much everything else.
Zac Zac Posen Eartha Soft Top Handle Bag/$500/revolveclothing.com
I love the combination of structure and femininity on this bag. It’s a day bag yet you can transition it to evening as well…
http://www.revolveclothing.com/zac-zac-posen-eartha-soft-top-handle-bag-in-black/dp/ZZAC-WY6/
Alexander Wang Rockie Small Crossbody Satchel/$825/nordstrom.com
This bag makes each and every single one of my lists. The size is enviable, it’s large enough to hold your basics, and it’s a nice neutral shade so that it goes with everything. Oh, and the pebbled leather and the iconic studs make it stand out from the rest.
Saint Laurent Suede Moujik Medium Bag/2650/forwardforward.com
This season’s most coveted bag. The military look is so chic. Definitely a good investment piece as the colors are neutral and elegant enough for years to come.
Six Eleven Mini Mc Duffle Bag/$375/aritzia.com
Six Eleven, Aritzia’s new custom bag line is just in time for Fall. Premium leather, an exposed zipper and a chic structure…
http://aritzia.com/en/mini-mc-duffle-bag/53056.html?dwvar_53056_color=1274#start=8
That’s it. For now. I need to stop before I leave the house in a blanket.

I know it’s already halfway through August but you still have more than enough time to indulge in summer beauty. Fret not. Here’s a nice little lineup…
I’m pretty light for a darker skinned girl so I love a little assistance – especially if it’s quick, mess free, and easy. This new launch works within an hour or so and gives a nice even tan. Definitely something to give you a little glow and help you ease into Fall..
I actually need to go out and get some of this. The weather is still hot and muggy and as a result it’s a real asshole to your perfectly made up face. You can get a couple different versions depending on what your skin type is but all will allow for a longer lasting base, smooth application and hydration.
This stuff is perfect for those that don’t want to rock a heavy lipstick during the summer. It’s smooth, low key and wearable all day but still gives a nice little pop of color.
Uh yes I cannot wait until the 21st. This new launch shadow is appropriately named Superwatt Electric Cool Eye Shadow. It’s a cream/powder combo but feels like a regular powder shadow. Love that because I want an easy application without getting too handsy. The finish is smooth and fairly light, but you can guarantee that it’ll stay all day long – huge plus, especially in warmer weather.
Hello new packaging. Aren’t you fancy. No more cardboard – Stila has introduced a new collection with just a very appropriate amount of pretention. The gold case is so chic. And the shades in it are perfect for a Summer to Fall transition. Cool and dark shades with a hint of shimmer. I can think of tons of smokey eye looks already…
Coconut oil is a God send for many a parched lip, dry skin, and your mouth (as of late). What better way than to combine it with a tried and true miracle balm? Forget Summer, I’m using this well into the Winter.
Chantecaille Le Stylo Ultra Slim Liner/$34/neimanmarcus.com
Okay. I’m not going to be a jerk here. I am a sucker for a designer brand, BUT I will mention that I am a sucker as long as it offers superior characteristics to a drugstore product. I haven’t used this so I have yet to find out but the packaging is so sleek, the tip boasts smooth and flawless application and it’s water and element resistant. It better be for 35 bucks. My go to liquid liner is Stila’s world famous wand but I feel as if I’m being glamoured…and it’s working.
Oh yeah, highlighters are like shoes for me. I must have them all. All shapes, all sizes, all shades, all. This stuff is great for contouring (PS – I did a post on contouring like a Kardashian a while back and this would do wonders for your darker base) Hollows of the cheeks, down your nose, and underneath your jaw.
Ooooh look whose trying to get a leg up on Louboutin’s super sized, super glam polishes…available now, this new launch mascara claims it’ll give you an intense winged out look without tiring out your biceps by wiggling. I’d like to try it just to see how it is on the inner lashes and the lower ones. The wand is nuts.
A little steep in price, but this brand is luxe and you’re getting a high quality product. Thought I’d start off with that so I don’t get stoned to death. This is perfect for those with a little too much shine on their skin. It’s also nice for matte=fying your foundation, which I’m a fan of.
Hey. How did I not know this existed until now?! If you have a hard time with liquid liners or sharper pencils for fine lines, this pen is your Holy Grail. One swipe is all it takes. No muss no fuss. Oh God, I can’t believe I just used that phrase.
As always, let me know if you make a purchase, I care. Really. I want to know.
