Let me tell you something – if I could wear pajamas all day every day, I would. I mean technically I can. There’s nothing stopping me other than societal norms and the unforgiving side eye. I could give an eff what anyone thinks but I’d rather be famous than infamous.
As a firm believer that weekend wear should be comfy and chic (favorite saying, favorite style) I reckon that the way to ensure this look is both wearable and acceptable when exiting the comforts of your abode is to select from the following wardrobe essentials. In pictoral form of course. I wouldn’t give it to you any other way.
Hit that snooze girl.
1. Pajama Pants
No, I don’t mean the 90’s Hammer pant, parachute pant or crotch drop pant. I’m talking a straight up luxurious pant (preferably in silk or a similar material) with a forgiving hem, a looser yet flattering fit and a wearable design.
Pairings: Wedges or heels depending on the leg, solid color tops, silk or synthetic blends, top knots, fitted blazers and statement jewelery.

J Crew Piamita Brigette Pant?$160/JCrew.com
Wilfred Marais Pant/On sale for $60/Aritzia.com
Zara Pajama Style Trousers/$30/Zara.com
2. Denim Cutoffs
A pair of looser fitting, distressed and faded denim cutoffs swaying off your hips are essential for weekend wear. A softer fabric and vintage look are my favorites. Strategic distressing, whether DIY or purchased are preferable.
Pairings: Flip flops, espadrilles, minimalist heels and gladiator sandals are perfect footwear for this style. Tops are a free for all, mirrored sunnies and a bad ass tan.

Blank Denim Cutoff Shorts/$42/Shopbop.com
Abercrombie High Rise Cutoffs/$25/abercrombie.com
One Teaspoon Bandits/$107/Revolve.com (Preorder) *Pretty much the perfect cutoffs ever made)
3. An easy to throw on day dress
An easy breezy day dress is essential for times you don’t feel like wearing pants. A long tunic top or oversized T would be sufficient but a dress is a little more put together. I never feel like wearing pants so day dresses are a must for me.
Pairings: Gladiator sandals, ankle strap stilettos, Chucks, denim and easy beachy hair.

4. The Perfect Tee
By tee, I don’t mean a cropped Malibu Barbie tee. I mean a comfy yet still fashionable solid T you can wear with just about anything. Preferably something not too potato sacked and not too shrunken.
Pairings: Denim cutoffs, leather drawstring shorts, skinnies, heels, Soludos, mirrored sunnies, statement jewelery and a fedora.

Elizabeth & James Ethan T Shirt/$65/Revolveclothing.com
J Crew Vintage Cotton V Neck Tee/$30/jcrew.com (my favorite)
5. A hat
My weekend uniform almost always consists of a baseball cap. I hate rocking the face full of makeup and hair full of product on my down low days, it’s so unnecessary. If you don’t have a face for a ball cap (dude, that sucks), there are always other options. Cute fedoras, floppy hats, and sun hats are perfect for the summer months. As for the winter? Well, let’s not think about that just yet.
Pairings: There’s a hat for pretty much any outfit possible but because the focus is Weekend Wear, keep it simple.

6. Mirrored Sunnies
Sunglasses are an obvious fashion must for pretty much any type of outfit, especially Weekend Wear. The hot trend right now are mirrored aviators but pretty much anything that covers and shields your eyes in a stylish fashion will do. Whether you’re rocking them to protect your eyes, to judge others without making eye contact, as a fashion accessory or to hide a lack of effort in putting your face on – they are highly necessary.
Pairings: Anything and everything but BFFs with a more effortless look.

7. Low Key Footwear
I am bit of a shoe conniseur if I must say so myself. I believe that a shoe can transform even the most drab looking outfit and I’m right so don’t even. Going along with a more low key look for the weekend, your shoe should line up as well. Anything that looks cas will do. Lace Supergas, espadrilles, Havianas, embellished sandals, gladiators, and the unfortunately ever so popular Birks that have been brought back to life by fashion bloggers all around town are the perfect pairings…
Pairings: Day dresses, denim, minis, button downs and short shorts.

8. A Versatile Bag
A day bag (not purse) is an absolute must. It should be large enough to throw in an iPad mini, bottled water, your makeup arsenal, a hairbrush, etc etc…I like my day bag to be versatile so that I can throw it over my shoulder or tote it. I heard the Chanel flap is a nightmare for storage, which for $5000 I feel is pretty shitty and pretty shitty for the people who end up buying them to use as every day bags. Ensure your bag has enough room, is fairly structured for a nice clean look, and can be carried without fear of getting grimy. Nothing says pretention like carrying around a dust bag during the day. I mean, fine. I actually have one for when I place my bag atop my desk at work, but you’re not allowed to judge me. I wrote this post.
Pairings: All your weekend day outfits…

9. A Button Down Blouse
The button down blouse isn’t just for preppies and pretentious white collar assholes. You can wear them too. Unless you classify as either of the aforementioned groups, then you probably already have at least 30. Color coordinated. From Tommy Hilfiger only. Disgusting. Anyway, a casual button down blouse can really be comfortable yet classy, especially for a low key weekend outfit. I like chambray, gauzy fabrics and silk.
Pairings: Denim, minis, cutoffs, heels, and printed pants.

10. A Simple Easy to Wear Heeled Shoe
I love wearing my cutoffs with a simple, elegant stiletto. It not only elongates your legs, it also dresses up an otherwise really casual look. Not 1st time in Vegas style, more like “Oh this ol thang?” when you actually put some long hard thought as to what you were stepping out in. I have been rocking a simple heel with an ankle strap for the better part of the year now…I find that my huge collection of unique styles is pretty jealous of the time we have spent together. As they should be.
Pairings: Flowy tops and cutoffs, day dresses, minis, skinnies, short shorts, a looser silhouette…

You don’t have to make like a Chipmunk and gather all these items all at once of course, just ensure you incorporate at least a couple.
