Style 101: The A List: Skin

Check out the next installment in my “A List Beauty Products” post. I’ve done one for hair, and one for body in previous posts (hit the Archive to take a peek).

Citrusy and loaded with glycerin so it’s not drying. Eco – friendly too.

2. Cetaphil Gentle Skin $11


Free of soap and fragrance, this stuff is for low maintenance people who just want a simple cleanser for their face. Nice and gentle.

3. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash $8


The salicylic acid laced liquid is a the greatest part. It cleanses, exfoliates and unplugs pores. Amazing stuff, Neutrogena is great for breakout prone skin. It smells nice and fresh too.

4. Aveda Green Science Perfecting Cleanser $35


A creamy wash that includes complexion correcting ingredients like glucosamine which  gently moisturizes and exfoliates, ceramides that restore skin’s natural barrier, and cactus extracts thta help boost collagen production. It does all this without drying out your skin.

5.Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Control Moisturizer $19


This three-step system fights acne and controls redness with a cleanser, spot-treatment, and moisturizer. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid clear pores and keep oil at bay. Another great brand for acne prone skin.

6. Dr. Brandt Blemishes No More Cleansing Pads $25


Intended mainly for acne prone skin, these soft pads absorb oil and fight bacterial buildup. Really nice for those of us who wear makeup for longer periods.

7. Proactiv $30


The triple threat of cleanser, toner and lotion is a must have for breakout prone skin. What sets it apart: prescription-grade benzoyl peroxide, which releases oxygen into pores to eliminate acne-causing bacteria.

8. Nude Skin Cleansing Milk $48


(Eco Friendly)

This collection opts out of parabens and sulfates in favor of active naturals, such as organic cupacu oil and hibiscus.

9. Clarins Cleansing Milk With Alpine Herbs $30


(Dry Skin)

Contains moisturizing ingredients such as almond and linseed extracts, this rich, milky formula is gentle, calming, and still emollient enough to remove makeup.

10. Shiseido Skincare Extra Gentle Cleansing Foam $30


(Sensitive Skin)

This stuff is infused with moisture-rich yuzu-seed extract, creates a thick, cushiony lather that gently cleanses and skirts irritation by thoroughly hydrating. Oh, and the best part – show the tea-rose scent has a calming effect on the mind.

11. Aveda Outer Peace Foaming Cleanser $24


(Cleanser for Acne Prone Skin)

A nice deep cleaner that isn’t too drying. It also contains plant extracts and salicylic acid, which help unclog pores and keep skin clear.

12. Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser $8

A gentle wash that doesn’t irritate skin, Aveeno is known for being gentle and easy on the skin. The salicylic acid treats acne, while anti-inflammatory soy extracts help soothe and brighten skin.

13. Clarins Water Comfort One-Step Cleanser for Normal to Dry Skin $30

Most soap-based cleansers leave dry skin feeling tight, at least the ones I’ve tried.  But this cleansing water, enriched with coconut oil cleans and softens.

14. Olay Daily Facials Clarity Scrub Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment $8


(Exfoliator for Acne Prone Skin)

Made with calming green tea and aloe vera, this salicylic acid exfoliator won’t tear skin, thanks to the smoothness of the crystals, a huge plus when you already have breakouts.

15. Smashbox Camera Ready $39

BB Creams are a hot new thing right now. This one primes, evens out imperfections, protects with SPF 35, comes in five shades, and controls oil so skin isn’t too dewy – just right.

16. Skinceuticals Renew Overnight Moisturizer $59

This stuff claims to smooth pores for smoother skin, overnight. Contains citric acid, and malic and alctic acids that result in glowing skin.

17. Neutrogena Oil-Free SPF 35 $12

This stuff is nice and light, absorbing and contains a broad spectrum SPF 35 that won’t clog pores. It creates a really nice base for makeup too.

18. Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense SPF 50 $14


(Daytime Moisturizer with SPF for Dry Skin)

This lightweight formula hydrates as well as it protects and the broad-spectrum block is sensitive enough for even rosacea and eczema sufferers.

19. Eucerin Redness Relief Daily Perfecting Lotion SPF15 415


(Rosacea Treatment for Sensitive Skin)

Unusually effective for an over the counter product, it reduces blotchiness with licorice-root extract and a subtle green tint.

20. Patricia Wexler M.D. Sensitive Skin Calming Anti-Aging Moisturizer SPF 30 $40

21. Shiseido White Lucent Brightening Moisturizing Emulsion $54



This lotion is full of Vitamin C which assists in evening out the skin tone, fading sunspots, and increasing the overall brightness.

22. Scott Barnes Body Bling $38



This is the stuff that makes J Lo glisten so pay attention. It’s high impact, luminous, and leaves both a sparkle and a shine on the skin. The original shade  is a deep bronze, with a lighter tint being offered recently. This is great for impromptu vacations that you didn’t have time to tan for, a faux glow in the winter months, and okay, pretty much an everyday glam shimmer.

23. Fresh Sugar Face Polish $55


(Dry skin exfoliator)

All natural exfoliator that has invigorating brown sugar (smells amazing) and wild strawberries.  They both hydrate and slough away dead skin, plus it includes aramatherapy ingredients and smells absolutely amazing. Really nice stuff.

24. Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant $50


A couple drops of water and this powder is transformed into a paste that contains rice bran to get rid of dead skin cells. It also contains licorice which evens out the skin tone and green tea to protect.

25. Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub Oil-Free $7

Tiny, nonabrasive beads and beta-hydroxy acid get rid of dead cells without scratching your complexion, and it rinses off nicely without leaving your skin tight.

26. Aveeno Daily Brightening Scrub $8

A gently scrub with soy that keeps everything really moisturized.

27. Clinique Exfoliating Scrub $18

Spherical beads slough away dead cells without scratching skin the way grainy particles tend to, it also rinses away really easy and without any residue.

This treatment puts oil in its place (read: off your face) in five minutes flat. Micronized kaolin clay absorbs grease without drying out skin, while 1 percent salicylic acid prevents and controls acne.

Made from skin clearning thermal water, it soothes and pampers dry skin so much that some suggest it for post laser and post peel individuals.

30. Bliss Triple Oxygen $52


This frothy foam is just what normal skin needs during seasonal changes. Humectants and liquefied oxygen are coddle, while an antioxidant cocktail (vitamin C and grape-seed extract) rallies collagen and blurs dark spots.

31. Avene Soothing Moisture Mask $22

  1. WOW! I love everything on this list ( although some products are pricey) My bathroom closet is already a store but I will make a list of soem of the items here to get for when I finish what I have. Thanks! So Cool!
