J’Adore: Big Hair

Image

“That’s why her hair is so big, it’s full of secrets.” – Mean Girls
Big hair has never gone out of style in my opinion. (No, this does not refer to the Snooki pouf a la Jersey Shore) – moreso, volume, waves, tousled, bed head, just power shopped at Nordstrom hair. Brigette Bardot is my big hair muse, as she is the reigning queen in her time for pin up, all American, carefree just got out of bed tresses. Anyway, check out a few of my favorite looks… Hopefully you can work one of these styles into your everyday look. Bottle of hairspray and teasing brush required.

Guess what? I wasn’t planning on including a how-to but that’s how on top of things I am. You’re welcome.

*Apply a thickening product if you feel – Bumble&Bumble BB Thickening Full Form Mousse is a good one, but really any will do.

*Rough blow dry hair

*Section the hair and either set it with big rollers or use a 1 1/2″ curling iron to create big soft waves. The key is using the iron and instead of curling downwards pull hair away from your face and upwards. (This works wonders if you have layers)

*If you have the time, pin up the sections and mist it with spray then release and backcomb and pouff – 90’s supermodels everywhere applaud you.

*If you’re doing this in the AM before you start your day (which is my routine), curl and skip the pinning. Instead spray each curled section with something like Bumble & Bumble Bb Thickening Dryspun Finish or Tigi Bed Head Superstar Queen for a day thickening spray and style.
